Strawberry mint

Strawberry mint is a variety of mint. It smells like strawberries and has a mild strawberry mint flavour making it a good garnish for summer drinks or ice-cream. The plant grows to about 30cm tall with smaller and lighter coloured leaves to regular mint. I grow my mints in containers so that they don’t take over the garden. If planted out in the garden, it will spread itself forming ground cover. Like all mints, it prefers to grow in some shade rather than direct sunlight.

Like most herbs, the plant grows bushier and better if you keep harvesting it through the growing seasons. Don’t remove more than one third of the leaves at one time, but you can keep taking a few leaves as you need them.
