Mushrooms

Mushrooms are not plants. The part we eat is the fruiting body which can be produced once or several times a year. Mushrooms are nutritious and delicious!

The logs we use come from our own woodland. They are sustainably sourced small trees, either oak or hornbeam, which we are thinning as part of our woodland management plan. We inoculate the logs with mushroom spawn, bought from a reputable supplier. It can take 1-2 years for the mycelium to spread through the logs and start to produce mushrooms.

I only sell these logs in person, due to the weight. This can be by arranged appointment or sometimes I have a stall at village markets or summer festival venues.
